About Me I am a graduate student in Computer Science at California Institute of Technology. My advisor is Prof. Adam Wierman. I received my B.S. degree in Computer Science from University of Science and Technology of China in 2006, and received my M.Phil. degree in Computer Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2008, where I studied under the supervision of Prof. John C.S. Lui and Prof. Dah-Ming Chiu. I have been awarded the highly competitive IBM Ph.D. Fellowship, which supports my current research. Research Overview My research centers around data center energy efficiency and cluster performance, particularly capacity provisioning and workload scheduling taking energy and performance into consideration. I am interested in the development and utilization of analytical tools combined with implementation experience to improve system design and management. In addition to the data center area, my research contributes new analytical tools to the fields of convex optimization, online algorithms and stochastic modeling. Latest News 10/2012: Our paper "Dynamic right-sizing for power-proportional data centers" is accepted to IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking. 07/2012: I started my internship at IBM Watson Research Center in the System Analysis and Optimization Group. 06/2012: I received the Best Paper Award at International Green Computing Conference. 04/2012: I received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad. 03/2012: I received the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship award. 02/2012: I was named a finalist for the Facebook Fellowship. 06/2011: I received the Best Student Paper Award at ACM GreenMetrics. 06/2011: I started my internship at Facebook in the infrastructure team. 04/2011: I received the Best Paper Award at IEEE INFOCOM. 04/2011: I was named a finalist for the Facebook Fellowship.
