Research Interests

My research interests broadly lie in mathematical optimization and its applications in the information sciences.  I seek a deeper understanding of the power as well as the limitations of convexity in optimization.  A principal motivation for my work is the development of efficient computational methods for challenging inverse problems arising in signal processing and in statistical inference.  A couple of recurring themes in my research are:
